Paul McCartney wows ‘em in Tel Aviv

An estimated 50,000 fans enjoyed Paul McCartney’s historic concert at Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park, Sept. 25. After greeting the crowd with “Shalom” and “Shana Tova” he kept them singing along for almost two hours, with hit after hit, including a rousing rendition of “Give Peace a Chance.”

Israel’s Dead Sea Scrolls to Make Toronto Debut

Israel’s most famous archaeological marvel - the Dead Sea Scrolls - are Toronto-bound.
The unique antiquity is scheduled to be on display at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) this coming June, for a six-month stint.
Visitors are expected to flock to the museum to see the famous, though tattered fragments, which date back 2000 years.

Prostate cancer sees the light of day

Prostate cancer is a common cancer among Canadian men, killing over 4,000 people each year. Traditional treatments have always involved surgery or radiation, both with dangerous side effects.
Researchers at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel developed a non-invasive drug called “Tookad” to treat prostate cancer. This Hebrew word means “warmth of light.”
