Colourful Concert Marks Tel Aviv’s Centennial

November 10th, 2009 · No Comments

In a fabulous display of cultural diversity, performers of many stripes danced, drummed and sang their hearts out in Winnipeg recently to jointly celebrate Tel Aviv’s centennial.
A crowd of more than 500 people at The Pantages Theatre took part in the dynamic event, which was put on by the Manitoba-Israel Shared Values Roundtable (MISVR).

They were treated to a colourful, energetic concert featuring everything from traditional Chinese and Ukrainian drummers, to Israeli singer Hila Eytan and Caribbean band Rockalypso.

Tel Aviv’s mayor Ron Huldai, along with numerous other dignitaries, including Manitoba MLA’s Christine Melnick and Sharon Blady, were among the attendees.

This was the second concert organized by MISVR, a group founded by Melnick, who is Manitoba’s minister of water stewardship.

The celebration also honoured the 100th anniversary of the B’nai Brith Manitoba region.
