Ancient Stone Quarry Uncovered in Jerusalem

Archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) exposed a large stone quarry from the Second Temple Period underneath Shmuel HaNavi Street in Jerusalem.
According to Dr. Ofer Sion, excavation director, “The stones that were quarried here were used by Herod to build the walls of the (Second) Temple.”
